Fasting a deep cultural tradition known in Germany as a “Kur” – a prescribed cure for body and soul. Inspired by Dr. Otto Buchinger who described “Fastenwandern” nearly a century ago, and who’s method helps thousands of people across the globe to heal their bodies.
His cure, called the Buchinger Wilhelmi philosophy, became the gold standard in Europe. The message is profound: true healing combines the metabolic reset of fasting with the power of movement, nature, and mindful support.
With WanderFasting we take it a step further and integrate ancient healing methods and modern techniques to harness the deep healing power of the fasted state for our mental well-being and improve our spiritual praxis.

We think that fasting is a very intimate experience that can leave us sensitive and vulnerable. Our retreats are designed to hold space to open up yourself in the circle and feel seen and heard at all times. Therefor we limit the number of participants to max. 8 people.

What kind of fast?
Only you can decide what kind of fast is best for you, but we can help you understand your needs. If you have questions about the different fasts or are unsure of any of our retreats is right for you, please feel free to get in touch!
Setting a clear intention for your fast, whether for mental clarity, physical renewal, or spiritual connection, as well as its length, is crucial for its success. The following step in your journey is to choose the right fast for you, in this moment, honestly assessing your experience. Remember, this is not a challenge and you don’t have to prove anything to anybody, especially yourself. Be kind! Go for a beginner-friendly intermittent fast if you are just starting out on your fasting journey or advance to a prolonged fast if you are seasoned. We are here to help and guide you, wherever you find yourself.

7 Days of Supported Deep Cleansing
Your transformation begins before you arrive with our preparatory guide, helping you gently transition into the fast. Throughout our week together, you will be held in a safe, supportive container where you will learn to nurture your body through this deep process with time-honored practices:

Your 7-Day Journey Inward: A Glimpse into the Rhythm
Day 1 (Saturday): Arrival & Sacred Intention
- Afternoon arrival to settle into the silence and peace of our surroundings.
- Our journey begins with a sacred circle: sharing our hopes, setting heartfelt intentions, and forming a true community of support.
- A final, mindful meal together, followed by the initial internal cleanse with bitter salts.
Day 2 (Sunday): Grounding & Release
We are now fasting for 12+ hours. The human growth hormones (HGH) start kicking in. Our glucose stores are now starting to deplete leading to reduced inflammation and the beginning of fat burning. Throughout the day, as we go into deeper fasting, cellular detoxification and repair lead to improved immune function. Intestinal stem cell regeneration starts and GABA production rises, leading to brain and autoimmune healing. This first day will be very serene and contemplative.
- Morning meditation and gentle yoga to connect with the body.
- A mindful pool plunge, feeling the water awaken every cell.
- A light walk to a close-by waterfall
- An afternoon of gentle, supportive practices: dry brushing, a first enema, a soothing liver pack, and reflective journaling.
- Evening meditation and warm broth, followed by deep, restful sleep.
Day 3 (Monday): Deepening & Connection
In the morning, we have now been fasting for 36 hours and are now in firm fasting territory. Ketones are now fuelling our body leading to higher cognitive function. Reduced glucose and insulin stores lead to increased fat burning and detoxification, which can lead to some symptoms. At the end of the day we reach the 48 hours landmark, meaning our dopamine receptors reset. We can now count with reduced anxiety and depression, and elevated anti-aging activity through higher antioxidant production. Our HGH increases by 500% at this point!
- Daily morning meditation and yoga session to deepen the inner journey.
- A long, mindful walk in nature, allowing the rhythm of our steps to become a moving meditation.
- Full Body Massage to improve circulation, relaxation and lymphatic drainage

- Sharing circle in the evening to voice insights and experiences.
Day 4 (Tuesday): Clarity & Insight
After 60+ hours of WanderFasting we now reached peak autophagy. Throughout the day our body starts creating new immune stem cells and musculoskeletal stem cells meaning that chronic conditions start to heal on an accelerated pace.
- Morning practice focused on opening the heart.
- A serene boat journey and extensive connection with the Ocean, feeling a sense of expansiveness and freedom.

- Evening stretches and “dinner” with a clear broth to help with deep sleep.
Day 5 (Wednesday): Clarity & Insight
After approximately 80 hours of prolonged fasting, the body has completed a profound metabolic shift and entered a stable, deep state of ketosis and cellular cleansing. We are now firmly running on clean ketone energy: The brain’s primary fuel source is now ketones, derived from fat, instead of glucose. Mental clarity and focus are often significantly heightened at this stage, meaning that now is the time to plan for our lives after the fast.
- Morning yoga and meditation session
- A contemplative visit to a powerful waterfall, using the sight and sound to cleanse the mind.
- Afternoon dedicated to preparing for our symbolic flight – setting intentions for what we wish to release and what lightness we wish to carry forward.
Day 6 (Thursday): Embodying Lightness – The Flight
Contrary to short-term fasts, at this stage if long-term Wanderfasting our metabolic rate is not only stable, but may actually increase or be maintained to support these intensive repair and energy processes, driven by the sympathetic nervous system.
- The highlight. A mindful paragliding experience. This is not a thrill-seeking adventure, but a sacred, silent meditation in the sky. It is a powerful physical commemoration of our newfound inner lightness – a chance to literally eise above and see the world from a new, expansive perspective.
- Afternoon sharing circle to process the profound experience of the flight. Evening yoga nidra and a guided meditation to seal in the day’s insights.
Day 7 (Friday): Integration & New Beginnings
We have now completed our WanderFast and are ready to step back into our lives. But the Transformation won’t stop here. We will continue to support you during the process of integration of your experience and the continued Lifestyle changes that we invite into our lives.
- A final, beautiful morning yoga and meditation session of gratitude.
- A mindful “Refeeding Meditation” to gently and consciously break our WanderFast.

We understand life can be unpredictable. To protect the integrity of our group and commitments, we have a clear policy:

60-89 days before retreat: 50% refund.

Fewer than 30 days before retreat: No refund available.
We strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance to protect your investment in case of unforeseen circumstances. In the event we can fill your spot, a partial credit may be offered at our discretion.
